So, I’m gonna try and turn my Pi into a router using OpenWRT. But I want to use a WAP instead of built in wifi chip or wifi dongle. Would you just connect it to the WAP with a Ethernet cable, then connect the WAP to your main router? Anddd, how would you even setup OpenWRT to use the Ethernet cable to send/receive data?

Is there a particular reason why you dont want to use an USB wifi adapter?

They are pretty cheap and simple

Plan change again since I can’t connect RPi directly to adapter. Going to have to find a way to get the internet from the router to the RPi. I can wire the RPi from there to my WAP. There is a wifi extender up here. But I’m not sure how well that will work. And I’m not even sure yet if it has an Ethernet port. Lol

So you are just trying to make a wifi router extender

Is that a thing? But essentially I guess?

Coaxial cable.

I have a tv in my room. And a coaxial cable plugged into a box I don’t use. Might as well put it to some use.
