Thought I would move the conversation here as it’s getting lost in the general thread.
Have you rebooted your pi since installing OpenVPN? This is a required step to be able to install the tunnel device that OpenVPN uses. Also, you will need to get or set a new IP address on the vpn tunnel.
Yep, the pi's been restarted
setting a new IP address for tun sounds like that's what it needs

<@931019630930190426> sadly I didn't get too far, as they were using a PIA vpn, which requires auth, but I only want to set up a tunnel connection. Would you know how to do that?
nvm, I ran a few commands to get a tunnel set up and it works 🙂
