pi doesnt boot to os when gpio screen connected

First time setting up a pi, when using vnc, ive had no trouble booting to and navigating the OS, however after following the waveshare guide for installing their display drivers, its able to show some of the boot junk, but eventually just turns and stays black.
Completely inexperienced with this stuff and haven't been able to find the same issue online
Sped it up 2x
trying to access with VNC during this state does get me the following
other than that no clue

that's corrupted I think
try reflashing the SD card and reformatting it
now that u mention it its probably the formatting
i ripped it straight out of my nintendo switch
yup
so i bought a fresh new 32gb sd card, made sure its fat32, fresh install of the os and followed the screen driver installation steps and got the same issue
try with vnc and without installing the drivers
in the imager you can reformat the SD card
yeah me too
thats why I suggest just to use a fresh install without the screen and use vnc to isolate the issue
thats what ive been running for the past couple days
works fine
ok so it is the drivers
somehow the screen drivers are damaging the pi os root
try and find alternative drivers
