Raspberry pi 3 won’t display on tv

The tv says no signal, when I plug the hdmi cable into it, it turns on, it just says no signal though. This is what the config file looks like, uncommenting does nothing though.

k9t33n

im guessing you have done all the setting up steps apart from using a hdmi cable?

PogMonke

I used the hdmi cable

k9t33n

is plugging the hdmi cable in all youve done so far?

PogMonke

No

k9t33n

ok explain step by step what you've done so far

PogMonke

I installed the raspberry pi legacy os onto the sd card. I’ve tried uncommenting everything for hdmi. I tried typing hdmi_force_hotplug=1 hdmi_group=1 hdmi_mode=76 disable_overscan=1 under [all], it didn’t work. My laptop connects to the tv without issues though, but the raspberry pi doesn’t.

k9t33n

try non-legacy, why did you want legacy anyway?

PogMonke

Legacy is also the only option available in the raspberry pi imager when I select the device as raspberry pi 3

k9t33n

ok try ssh

k9t33n

download an app like fing

k9t33n

make sure when you flash the SD card, try without legacy os, make sure to put your WiFi details in and the username and password to something you'll remember

k9t33n

then scan the internet your on with fing, look for anything raspberry pi related and note down its ip, tell me when you get this far

k9t33n

oh interesting

k9t33n

you could try angry IP scanner

k9t33n

fings working for me

PogMonke

I think either the signal is just too weak or there’s not enough power, either that or my raspberry pi is just broken.

PogMonke

The green light doesn’t turn on, only the red one.

_krazy.

Bruh

_krazy.

Installing the os is enough to show a signal on display

_krazy.

Even if lite

_krazy.

I've 64gb

_krazy.

And it works in both lite and full

_krazy.

And also other custom os work too

PogMonke

What raspberry pi do you have?

_krazy.

RPi 3B+

PogMonke

Wtf

PogMonke

How

_krazy.

Bruh just erase the whole SD card and then install lite legacy and then do some basic SSH config from the imager

PogMonke

I think my raspberry pi is just broken

_krazy.

It's probably not

_krazy.

And also hdmi is useless in most cases

_krazy.

Just use vnc

_krazy.

Interesting

_krazy.

ok forget it just don't use hdmi ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

PogMonke

The green light doesn’t come on, which means it’s not even reading the sd card I think

k9t33n

what's the power rating on your power source?

k9t33n

you can find this on a plug by taking a picture of its underside, or on the back of a powerbank if your using that

oops.se

And if you use "Raspberry Pi OS Lite" it will always display the console screen, its when it switch over to graphics that the detection of HDMI resolution fails between the Raspberry Pi and the monitor/TV. That will confirm that it's working and then you can switch to "Raspberry Pi OS Full" and figuring out what resolution your TV supports and implement those settings in the RPi.

miabl0

my pi3 is running a 128GB SanDisk too

_krazy.

Welp, I guess some brands differ on how they work

_krazy.

And also try flipping the sd card lol

oops.se

I don't have a list of what works and not.

PogMonke

I think it’s just broken

oops.se

It looks like a dead RPi, RIP.
