Raspberry Pi 3B+ issues

I have been given a 3B+ from one of my teachers at my school. My goal is to get it running again. Ive tried 3 different os install types (NOOBS, 64bit full, and 64bit standard) and a different Micro sd. It could possibly be a dead Pi but I’m not fluent with Pi boards. I have power to the board, a os on the sd card from the Pi imager software, and still get no sign of life from the board. Power light comes on but activity light doesn’t come on/flash. I’m not seeing any physical damage or burnt/fried parts. Can anyone here help? (Ethernet has been connected and the hdmi cord does work)

you can check this on a plug by turning it over, if your not sure take a picture and I will tell you

pens look strait as a pencil and soldering looks fine. cant tell if its the light but looks a bit like a fuzzy color. might give it a light scrub with a soft toothbrush and isoethanol

it was sitting on top of a cabinet uncovered for 4 years or so. was used to display on a tv

2,5A is enough for a Raspberry Pi 3. The Raspberry Pi 3 Model B+ requires a 5.1V 2.5A power source. This is the official power supply by the Raspberry Pi Foundation and is suitable for use with all Raspberry Pi Models (excluding Pi 4 without an USB-C adaptor). And that is divided into 1,2A to the USB ports and 1,3A to the Pi itself.

So if you don't have any power hungry USB devices you can use a PSU that has 1,5 - 2A.

Would it be better just to use a more powerful charger or is that too much of a risk

And could a external reader (not the on board reader) read and open the boot partition?

Tried booting into PINN aswell with the same results

Could be fried from too much power but it was using a proper power cord with switch attachment

To much power, not likely. To high voltage perhaps. Can you measure the voltage? And electronic components has a way of failing over time...
