It connects to the router via ethernet and can be accessed by ssh locally but can't access the internet. I set it up a few days ago with the dietpi OS , installed some stuff wich it must have had internet for then I moved it next to the router and connected to it via ssh to connect to it from my computer which is when I realised that it can't access the internet . I don't understand what the problem is, or if the problem is with the router or the raspberry pi.

can you install stuff at all now?

dylfer0

no

k9t33n

whilst ssh is working

k9t33n

interesting

k9t33n

very interesting

k9t33n

all I can think is that your router is having some sort of firewall just for the ethernet

dylfer0

I have tested it some more and realised that it can access the internet but cant resolve domains. so it can ping 8.8.8.8 but fails to do ping google.com

dylfer0

so a DNS problem ?

k9t33n

maybe

k9t33n

if you have a DNS that would be useful information for us to know

k9t33n

check if google.com or your client IP or something is blocked

dylfer0

My router uses cloudflare's DNS and the raspberry pi DNS says 192.168.1.1 (my router's IP) using DHCP

k9t33n

double DNS?

k9t33n

anyway I have to go now, try turning the DNS off and if it works debug that

oops.se

The computer you use for accessing the Raspberry Pi via SSH can that computer surf the internet? If yes what DNS does it have?

dylfer0

yes it can access the internet and it uses 192.168.1.1(routers IP)

dylfer0

I might just try restarting with a new dietpi OS and see if that fixes it

dylfer0

I have occurred the same problem again. It hapend after installing openmediavault

dylfer0

I'm not sure if I will be able to fix it or I will have to find a alternative
