sorry just confused, what do you mean by rdp?

Pantner

RDP is the windows name (Remote Desktop Protocol). Assuming you're using VNC? or is there an RDP package that you can install to make it work with RDP?

k9t33n

do you have an actual display for testing?

Pantner

I am not OP

k9t33n

oh yeah sorry

k9t33n

I rarely look at names lol

k9t33n

<@118810952530395136> do you have a display for testing?

dubstepmad

using xrdp, pretty much followed a tutorial on how to do it

dubstepmad

I have used my other monitor plugged in via HDMI and that displays it

dubstepmad

it does pop up for a second and then disappears somewhere

k9t33n

ok my first suspicion is Resolution/ratio

k9t33n

oh nvm then

k9t33n

hmm

k9t33n

have you tried looking for any of these?

dubstepmad

it does seem like it is trying to fit the screen into the window but removes the bar

dubstepmad

seen VNC mentioned in a few places but unsure what this is

Pantner

VNC is al alternative remote control software

k9t33n

to me it just means a better version of what your using lol

k9t33n

I mean headless all the way anyway

dubstepmad

ah, I will give it ago now and see if that helps

k9t33n

ok great

dubstepmad

any suggestions or links?

k9t33n

real vnc is the most popular

Pantner

the server is built into the Raspberry Pi OS, i think you can turn it on with raspconfig or whatever the command is

Pantner

rasp-config?

Pantner

realvnc is what i use, then it's add the ip/hostname and join just like RDP

k9t33n

it doesn't seem like there's much good competition for it. I tried looking. tight vnc seems good but it looks like real vnc is winning

k9t33n

*sudo raspi-config

dubstepmad

any free ones as realvnc is a little costly?

Pantner

there is a free version

k9t33n

nope it's free

k9t33n

also you need to enable it on the pi first

dubstepmad

I just see "start trial"

dubstepmad

will do

k9t33n

then on your pi type in sudo raspi-config and go down to interfaces then enable vnc. now press back and then finish

k9t33n

use the arrow keys and enter to select stuff

k9t33n

then finally run hostname -I and type this into the vnc search bar and follow the steps to connect

dubstepmad

perfect, works as intended. Image quality is a little low like

Pantner

There is a low/medium/high setting for that

dubstepmad

Cheers guys, solved my issue there and I changed the quality 🙂

Pantner

it's one of those things, trying to make a built-in program for windows work with linux is just not good. Same with using something that does 3rd party airplay, etc Better off using a global solution that is written for all platforms
