setting up 5 pi3b+ for a school

Running sudo apt install neofetch returns not found and failed to fetch errors. I suppose it may be because of the strict proxy that this school has on the network. Oddly, same thing happens when connected to mobile hotspot

Check the logs in /var/log/apt perhaps you can find a answer there. And if you say "return a error" please supply the complete error.

k9t33n

just making sure, you have installed neofetch?

k9t33n

sudo apt install neofetch

oops.se

Read the question again.

k9t33n

ooops

j_jmc

Sorry about that. Was a bit pressed for time and am no longer on campus. The error was literally something along the lines of, ā€œNot found: neofetchā€. Also, other packages returned the same errors

k9t33n

and your sure its connected to the network?

j_jmc

Yeah the original post was made from Discord signed in on the machine

j_jmc

Out of the 5 machines I donā€™t know why this one decided to misbehave

k9t33n

try annother package

j_jmc

Any other package returns the same junk

k9t33n

i read this wrong sorry

k9t33n

god im tired today

k9t33n

okay so is apt just being annoying?

k9t33n

run sudo apt check just to make sure atleest somethings working

j_jmc

Iā€™ll have to do this Wednesday when Iā€™m there again.

k9t33n

ok

max2010_

so please try apt update, solved my issue

j_jmc

Should have mentioned that I tried this earlier. Issue was not resolved, although the command seemed to execute succesfully

thesourceerror

try pinging the repo to see if you are being blocked

thesourceerror

try pinging google, see if its got access to the internet at all

oops.se

This is exactly why its so important to post the exact error message, otherwise its a lot of guessing! And please read and answer my previous post abot logs

max2010_

Okay like the source error said try ping google.com or ping 8.8.8.8

j_jmc

It definitely has access to the internet and google. As mentioned earlier, I was able to sign into Discord from the machine and make this post

j_jmc

I'll grab it on Wednesday

j_jmc

I flashed the OS again and it magically works now
