Need recommendations for a 4-4.5 inch square TFT for Pi Zero project

Hi
I want to build a replica of the PKE Meter from the Ghostbusters cartoon and the form factor would require a 4-4.5 inch square TFT panel for a Pi Zero, with as little PCB overhangs beyond the screen dimensions as possible. As you can see, I'll have to be frugal with the available space inside the casing.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

I have seen a lot "NOT SQUARE" displays so I can't assist you

They usually come only with a ribbon cable or board that would eat up even more space than a simple SPI interface leveraging https://github.com/juj/fbcp-ili9341.

The picture looks like a display with LVS interface, not SPI
iskelderon
Yes, what I need is something simpler, like SPI, a full on HDMI would be overkill for my uses. I'm new to this and have previously just used existing display PCBs. The image is just an example of the display and ribbon cable I'm talking about.

Ok

The project is basically a Pi Zero, a screen, 3 LEDs, a simple audio amplifier and a potentiometer, along with a small power bank and a power shim.

If I where you I would take a 3.2 or 3.5 display and hide the lower part so what is displayed is squared
iskelderon
Would still work, but I need something that's the roughly 8.5 cm screen "width" with minimal PCB overhangs.

Most of the usual screens waste a lot of space on the PCB for the driver and the like.

Then you approach more expensive HDMI displays in not square format, not cheap TFT/SPI displays

There are expensive custom made displays for a couple of thousand USD's that fits your needs
iskelderon
That's overkill, hence why I'm looking for something mostly off the shelf. I'm just a hobbyist, not a pro that can burn through a movie budget.

I just pointed out, you wish a expensive custom made display and that doesn't fit your budget so you need to compromise

Guess the easiest thing will probably be to go with the above example and resolder the HDMI for a Mini HDMI connector.
