pihole troubleshooting

Pretty new to this. My brother bought my me a pi-4 b. I'm running it on Ubuntu desktop. I'm setting up a pi-hole (trying at least). I thought I did everything right. The laptop I'm on now passes the pi-hole test but other devices (including the pi) do not. What information do I need to give you guys in order to get some help?
have you set it as your default DNS in your network?

I went to the modem's webpage and saw the primary dns and changed it to the pi-hole one
then reset the modem
I'm assuming your laptop passes the pihole test through other means like a built in adblocker for your browser
does your pi have a static IP address?
That's what I was thinking as well but I've since disabled ad blockers and it still passes

yeah totally fine, I wasn't ever really worried about internet access. I have a laptop and a desktop, and the pie was using wifi. I just wanted to pi-hole my whole house in one fell swoop

it's not always you get someone like you who.. well the main part is that you listen
some people ask for help and that just like to ignore you and do their own thing every now and then
mean people suck. You are spending your time helping me, for free and out of the kindness of your heart, I can't even picture being upset with you. Those people have problems
