_antam

so like i want a raspi zero wh to make an led visualizer for a piano, but it requires a microsd card port and a usb port, i have no idea how to assemble these

k9t33n

the micro SD card can be found anywhere online for example: Amazon, and do you have a pc/laptop? especially with a SD card reader

_antam

i have a laptop, it has an ssd port but not a micro one idk if microsd works on the ssd port

_antam

its not that

_antam

its the port on the raspi

_antam

not the card itself

k9t33n

that should come with the pi no?

_antam

i uh

_antam

i found one on amazon but idk

_antam

i dont know what the port looks like

_antam

should i sent the amazon link or

k9t33n

have you got the raspberry pi zero?

_antam

no-

_antam

not yet

_antam

im looking for one

_antam

i need to make sure ill find all the equipment before i start buying

k9t33n

well you don't need to find a micro SD card port and usb port that comes with the pi

_antam

is it already inside or do i need to assemlbe it

_antam

_antam

becuase i dont see any ports here or im extremely dumb

_antam

_antam

becuase theres no microsd here

_antam

i got the stuff from a tutorial page and it linked here

k9t33n

_antam

k9t33n

_antam

no no i meant prot

_antam

_antam

ik

_antam

_antam

wlel the page

k9t33n

you don't have to worry about that

k9t33n

bye gtg now

_antam

also um

_antam

okay

riothedev

maybe i can help

riothedev

what is it

_antam

this is mostly abt the piano but idk so my piano doenst have a usb port but an aux port so will an aux male to usb male adapter work?

_antam

on raspi

riothedev

uhh

riothedev

u're plugging it into a piano

riothedev

oh

riothedev

hm

riothedev

i understand i think

_antam

keyboard*

riothedev

wait

_antam

but sure

_antam

do u want the vid 😭

riothedev

oh ok makes more sense that way

riothedev

😭

_antam

ya sorry

riothedev

i was wondering how u had an aux port on a whole ass piano

riothedev

😭

_antam

IM DYING

riothedev

i was wondering "where the fuck did this dude find a piano with an aux port"

riothedev

okay so

riothedev

uhh

riothedev

lemme think

_antam

on saturn

riothedev

i dont actually know how that works

_antam

takes a bit to deliver but its good

riothedev

so u want to plug it into the piano

riothedev

and visualize the output?

riothedev

lmao

_antam

the visualiser is led lights

_antam

do u want the vid?

riothedev

yup

_antam

mayeb ull udnerstand better from there

_antam

also here is the github page

_antam

with the instructions

_antam

but idk im stupid for this

riothedev

sorry answering two threads at the same time on a phone is hard

riothedev

😭

riothedev

I'll look at it in a bit

_antam

alright no worries

_antam

take ur time

_antam

thanks for tryna help

_antam

mission failed i asked the owner an aux to midi port wont work

_antam

sad

_antam

which makes sense bcause aux is audio

riothedev

damn

riothedev

i mean

riothedev

cant u buy an aux port

riothedev

and use the gpio

_antam

the thing is

_antam

the raspi needs a usb midi

_antam

so it can detect which notes r being played

_antam

so it can know what light to turn on

_antam

an aux port is audio

_antam

so i dont think an adapter will work

_antam

i found another keyboard but its definitely not worth buy just for led

riothedev

usb audio dongle?

riothedev

or same problem

riothedev

havent really tried any audio stuff

_antam

_antam

well the creator said this

_antam

soo idk

oops.se

Midi is NOT audio, its digital signals. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MIDI

_antam

yes i know

_antam

so an aux to midi signals eh

_antam

sad

riothedev

true

_antam

alr guys ty for the help

_antam

gotta skidadle

Before you read - I haven't solved your issue but just want to offer what I learned about the problems with aux in. I was interested in this issue, but no knowledge of audio > midi conversion or anything like that, looked into it a little bit and just since you might be interested - one key issue with converting aux audi to a midi signal is When you hit 4 keys at once: With midi - You get 4 specific digital messages outputting the details of the keys that are pressed With Aux / Audio - You get the combined sound of all 4 keys at once, which makes it very difficult for a 'converter' to extract and pinpoint the information of each key accurately. So trying to light up an led at the exact position of the key press on the keyboard could work at a very rough level for single keys, but when it comes to chords or any combination of keys things probably wouldn't align nicely. Again this is my first look into this stuff so I may have some incorrect assumptions.

riothedev

yup that sounds right
