Hunting Iron man ( or Batman) helmet

Hi! basically, I want to make Iron man(or Batman. depends mostly on stl's I will find) helmet with built in thermal vision, night vision, and possibly remote activator. I want to use it to play hide and seek in the dark, as well for simply having a cool gadget from movies. Problem is, that I have zero knowlage about Raspberry Pi, coding , and stuff like that. Only similar thingI have done is working animatronic head using Arduino. I really need someone to help me find parts and show me the basics of it.

k9t33n

big project but let's start with the pi. your roles say you have every pi is that correct?

kaoplay10

i clicked randomly on them

kaoplay10

i have non, but ill buy one that is best for this project

k9t33n

ok if you don't have any just don't click any, I'm removing all of those roles for you now

k9t33n

ok first of all if you want thermal vision and night vision that would mean you want two different cameras, maybe the pi 5 because of its double display ports

k9t33n

and you would want two small displays, maybe the cameras could be usb and display could be on the display ports.. or vise versa

k9t33n

if you don't understand what I'm saying right now don't worry, I'm just brainstorming

k9t33n

the pi 5 would also be good for all that displaying and stuff. the only problem is it's size and power intake. so it might be a bit chunky

k9t33n

actually it'd be chunky no Matter what

kaoplay10

hmm...

kaoplay10

what are the smallest pi that could support one camera at a time?

kaoplay10

im thinking of building in two small pi, and make a system to switch between both

kaoplay10

im not sure if that would work tho...

k9t33n

pi zero could do it but the display parts would become much more difficult

kaoplay10

darn

kaoplay10

so, what would be the best solution?

k9t33n

pi 5 with usb cameras, but just gonna be a bit chunky

k9t33n

or you could have like a backpack to hold all the big components

kaoplay10

It would be better for it to be not as heavy

kaoplay10

unless you have some good battery in your mind

k9t33n

I do that's not that heavy and could last about 3 hours, the problem is size

k9t33n

so do you like the backpack idea?

kaoplay10

maybe?

kaoplay10

I would propably more enjoy having this thing on me:

kaoplay10

k9t33n

oh yeah that'd be good

k9t33n

and you may have a kinda thick wire going to the headset

kaoplay10

I might have to have it on the back then

kaoplay10

but its not much of a problem

k9t33n

I mean it could go under a shirt

k9t33n

ok id find some usb thermal and usb night vision cameras

k9t33n

I'll find some small displays when I'm free, and everything else I already know about

k9t33n

do you have a 3d printer? wed probably want something specifically designed

oops.se

There is a small IR filter on most USB cameras that you can remove and get a "nightvision" camera for less. And if you add some IR LEDs you can get a nice nightvision camera.

k9t33n

yes i was just worried that its too dificult to remove and they would sratch the senser

oops.se

I have modified two web cameras and it was quite easy, I was more lucky than the YouTube video. The IR filter was easily removed with a needle and a knife tip (scalpel)

kaoplay10

i do

k9t33n

good

kaoplay10

how hard is it?

k9t33n

never tried myself tbh, but according to <@796000224690307072> it's not that hard

kaoplay10

i mean, I could take that risk and try it out 🤷‍♂️

oops.se

It is like to ask "How hard is it to eat soup without spill"... It depends on how steady hand you have and patience and work methodically. And if something is stuck, it is a reason and it isn't solved with more force.

oops.se

And in the YouTube video the person smashed the IR filter, I choose to use a scalpel and slowly peal away the glue piece by piece. And on one camera I was successfully just to pry it loose.

kaoplay10

I see

kaoplay10

i mean, my hands arent steady, but i have worked on many things that need precision and i still was able to do so.... so yeah.

kaoplay10

i think I could be able to do it, I just need a camera to do it on

kaoplay10

but before i do anything, I have a question

kaoplay10

this does not look like

kaoplay10

like this

kaoplay10

I know, great expample

kaoplay10

but

kaoplay10

would it behave in a simmilar way?

kaoplay10

I mostly want that termovision to see footsteps

kaoplay10

and Im not sure if a camera modified in such way could see those

kaoplay10

by that i mean heat left by foot
