Raspberry OS locks after source change

Hey all, So when I change source to go to DisplayPort for example my raspberry pi locks and I'm greeted with the login screen again and once I've logged in it seems the one cli program I had running has closed. Any ideas? Thanks!

This is a security feature. And you can always place a CLI program in the background so its not dependent on a forground bash session.
