Does the 7” touchscreen draw significant resources?

I'm trying to use a seven inch touchscreen monitor with my pi4, but the program I'm running is lagging. I was wondering if it draws enough resources to make the pi slower or have slight delay, could anyone help me?

but the program just freezes for a second and the audio it makes stops
I'm wondering if the program is just too resource intensive by itself or if the monitor could be taking too much away
run htop to see if it's taking significant resources
