DSI display

Hi everyone! I am using a CM4 module. I wanted to use a 7 inch DSI display which uses the ILI9881 IC. I got the inspiration to use this from the cutiepi tablet project. I designed a PCB and added dtoverlay = cutiepi-panel to my config.txt. I get output to my display but it blurry and the entire row lights up. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks a lot!

Quick

k9t33n

Link?

namangulati

Sorry thanks!

namangulati

Datasheet of the screen I am using

k9t33n

You flashed the micro SD card on the cutiepi?

k9t33n

Apparently it runs on its own os too

k9t33n

Actually that might be a different one

namangulati

Yeah I think they developed their own OS. But I was just looking to implement a way to use the display

namangulati

I referenced their Schematics and used the drivers mentioned in the link above

k9t33n

I think the os is necessary

k9t33n

Try it anyway

namangulati

I did try it, but the hardware I am using is quite different from their project so it wouldn’t work on my PCB. It doesn’t boot. But I referenced their Display circuit to implement it within my project

k9t33n

They're docs don't consist of much else which is annoying

namangulati

Yup the documentation is a little inadequate

k9t33n

They suggest to use the CM4 board didn't they?

namangulati

I am somewhat happy that I can get some sort of output on my display but not sure how to proceed

namangulati

I am using a CM4 module

k9t33n

Yes and that's what they suggest

namangulati

I can share the schematics of my PCB with you

k9t33n

Sure

k9t33n

We don't need any PCB right now right? What does the PCB do?

namangulati

Its got multiple aspects

namangulati

HDMI, an M.2 port for network cards, an Audio card for audio and Mic

namangulati

I think it might be a driver issue

k9t33n

For now tho can we remove that from the equation to simplify things?

k9t33n

I think if we build up slowly and find the problem deep down first it'd be better. Your project tho

namangulati

Its an IOT pill dispenser

namangulati

Using a pi

k9t33n

Fun, have you tried without the PCB tho? You can work it in later

namangulati

Are you talking about the DSI screen?

namangulati

Would need a PCB to try it

k9t33n

You only need the CM4 board don't you??

namangulati

Would have to use it with a carrier board
