RPi5 Not booting or checking SD/USB drive

I have a brand new RPi5, I installed Raspian on a USB drive, booted up, connected via ssh, and ran apt upgrade. It crashed during the upgrade, and now does absolutly nothing when plugged in. All I get is a solid red light. I have tried different images on both USB and SD, pressing the button does nothing. I assume the bootloader got messed up, since it doesn't even check the USB or SD card, and displays nothing on the hdmi out. How can I fix the bootloader if it doesn't access the attached drives?

With no SD card or usb in it still doesn't display anything?

I SEE YOU <@1071178789939331253>

k9t33n

Yes because I'm helping multiple people

._.cool_person._.

but i was first 😦

k9t33n

Anyway, you just did an sudo apt full-upgrade right?

hoco_xxsamxx

~~I did yes~~ Sorry no, I did sudo apt update

k9t33n

And your not the most important, now I'm going back to you again

hoco_xxsamxx

And with everything removed, it still does nothing

k9t33n

One second let me get on desktop

hoco_xxsamxx

Thanks!

k9t33n

just a warning. your pi may be bricked

hoco_xxsamxx

That's my fear

k9t33n

which means fully broken. but we can try to fix anyway

hoco_xxsamxx

Yeah, I'd like to try. I have a multimeter ready

k9t33n

plug your sd card into your computer, go into the imager os and select "misc utility", then pi 5, and then sd card boot

hoco_xxsamxx

Already tried that

hoco_xxsamxx

Nothing happened

hoco_xxsamxx

With both SD and USB with the bootloader reset image

k9t33n

no display or solid green?

hoco_xxsamxx

Only solid red light

k9t33n

this not looking good

k9t33n

hmm, one second

k9t33n

try pressing erase

hoco_xxsamxx

What is erase?

k9t33n

at the bottom

k9t33n

it will reformat your sd card

hoco_xxsamxx

Oh, in the Pi imager correct?

k9t33n

yes

hoco_xxsamxx

There is no button that says erase. Just device, operating system, and storage

k9t33n

oh sorry, press on operating system

k9t33n

then erase

k9t33n

hoco_xxsamxx

Done

hoco_xxsamxx

Any other ideas <@1071178789939331253>

hoco_xxsamxx

?

k9t33n

yes, just flash it with normal 32 bit rpi os. after that its probably dead

hoco_xxsamxx

Yeah I tried that, no luck. I have a multi meter, can I check pins to see what is going on? The gpio pins have 5.1v and 3.3v where they should. Can I check somehting else?

k9t33n

not really no. your pi is dead.

k9t33n

do you have a thermal camera or anything?

hoco_xxsamxx

Unfortunelty no. But I can't feel any heat coming from anywhere

k9t33n

well nothing you can do really now unless your incredibly smart.

hoco_xxsamxx

I am moderatly smart. What do you suggest?

k9t33n

no i mean like 10x smarter than me. you could replace some resistors/transistors or the actual cpu die and RP1 chip its self. but that above me so i could suggest any of that
