pejsek147

i have debian os not raspberry os

pejsek147

you know how raspberry os looks like this

pejsek147

pejsek147

mine looks like this for some reason

k9t33n

Struggling?

pejsek147

yes

pejsek147

i dont know how to do a screen shot on this new

pejsek147

like how when i cannot like open anything

k9t33n

Its fine

k9t33n

Run cat /etc/os-release in a terminal

pejsek147

PRETTY_NAME="Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm)" NAME="Debian GNU/Linux" VERSION_ID="12" VERSION="12 (bookworm)" VERSION_CODENAME=bookworm ID=debian HOME_URL="https://www.debian.org/" SUPPORT_URL="https://www.debian.org/support" BUG_REPORT_URL="https://bugs.debian.org/"

pejsek147

pejsek147

its like this

pejsek147

can i like revert it or something

k9t33n

This has happened to another guy too

k9t33n

It's so weird

pejsek147

i have some important staff on this

pejsek147

what do i do?

k9t33n

May you run arch?

pejsek147

aarch64

k9t33n

Because raspbian is very similar to debian apart from looks so I think it's something where it just isn't using the CSS used for raspberry pi os desktop or something similar

k9t33n

Full output?

pejsek147

yes

pejsek147

nothing else

k9t33n

Hmm

k9t33n

Run sudo apt list

pejsek147

can i like copy all files and put it on my pc then put it back after reinstalling os?

k9t33n

Should be able to but I don't think that's needed

k9t33n

Put the output of this in a pastebin

pejsek147

how?

k9t33n

I should probably use grep rn but whatever

k9t33n

Run it in a terminal, select all of it and use your right mouse button to copy

pejsek147

wait a minute

k9t33n

Then Google pastebin and create and paste it in. And share me the link

pejsek147

i cant select all of it

pejsek147

the first ones just disappiers

pejsek147

i have libraries x throuh z nothing else

k9t33n

Okay give me 10 mins and I'll figure out how to use grep

k9t33n

I haven't used it much at all

pejsek147

i dont know if i have grep

pejsek147

what is grep anyway?

pejsek147

if it helps i have teamviewer

k9t33n

Nah it's fine

k9t33n

Grep allows you to search for specific stuff in a command output

pejsek147

ok

k9t33n

In this case I will be looking for rasp or something to find traces of the old operating system

k9t33n

I find it very weird that even os-release thinks it's pure Debian making it seem like you've just fully switched

pejsek147

if it helps it happend when i entered command sudo apt autoremove

k9t33n

So I'm kinda using your circumstances to learn and tert

pejsek147

it was like 350 MB

k9t33n

Hmm that could do it

pejsek147

then the icons changed

k9t33n

Also the information I needed before btw

k9t33n

Immediately or after a reboot?

pejsek147

some icons changed immediately but after reboot it was like a new os

k9t33n

Ah okay

k9t33n

Any idea of what files were removed?

pejsek147

no idea

pejsek147

sorry

k9t33n

Also try grep -i rasp sudo apt list

k9t33n

Sorry let me change that

pejsek147

grep : sudo : no such file or directory

pejsek147

grep : apt : no such file or directory

k9t33n

Yeah thought so

k9t33n

Expected that

pejsek147

so now what

k9t33n

Let me look at the grep man

k9t33n

This is a learning experience for me too

k9t33n

Oh and btw I must mention now, whether your on raspberry pi os or Debian it won't really matter at all for your important stuff

pejsek147

so how do i get it out bc i dont want this and i want raspberry pi os

k9t33n

Oh I got it now sudo apt list | grep -i rasp

k9t33n

And paste in the output, you don't need all of this but as much as you can really

pejsek147

now what

k9t33n

Show me it that's all

pejsek147

its too long

pejsek147

and now i notice that lots of icons is missing

k9t33n

Ok good this is proof that thanos hasn't snapped his thingers and poof Debian.

k9t33n

I suggest you do copy the files to your pc that you want to keep then reflash the sd card and paste them back in

pejsek147

but how

k9t33n

Like mentioned

k9t33n

How?

k9t33n

What a step by step guide?

pejsek147

bc when i open it i only see the booting files

k9t33n

Ah yes

k9t33n

Find home then your username and start from there

pejsek147

this is the only thing i see

pejsek147

pejsek147

k9t33n

It should show up as two devices in your computer

pejsek147

and i have 500gb

pejsek147

nothing

pejsek147

pejsek147

i have os then my drive split into 2 and the boot

pejsek147

pejsek147

i have this with the disk

pejsek147

but i cannot like make it a disk

k9t33n

Ugh I hate windows

pejsek147

thats why i wanna use linux

k9t33n

Okay do you have a usb stick?

pejsek147

kind of

pejsek147

its like a flash disk

pejsek147

its a disk but on a usb

pejsek147

but when i did have it on sd card nothing changed

k9t33n

I mean plug that usb into your pi along with your boot device and copy your important files to the usb

pejsek147

ohh i know what you mean

pejsek147

like i plug the disk into the raspberry then from there to copy to other disk

pejsek147

can we do it like tomorow i cannot do it now bc of personal things

k9t33n

Okay sure

pejsek147

thanks
