Control Pi Pico with SMS text

Hi all, as the title suggests, has anyone managed to control a pico with an SMS message? If so what’s needed?

What do you want to control?

You need a Mobile phone module. The module is depending on what mobile network you want to connect to (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G) and what region/country your in. if you have 2G a SIM 800 module is a cheap and easily available module. For the rest of the bands it is a lot of other modules and they are a bit more expensive ex SIM 76xx. And they all have a standardised AT command over a serial interface.

Perfect, thanks! I’m wanting to make a lock I can lock/unlock remotely, so I send a signal to the pico and it uses a motor to slide the lock back and foreword. I’ll look into the mobile phone module.

Or there will probably be Internet on site, so if it’s easier to connect and trigger it via the Internet that could possibly work

Internet (WiFi) is already built in to the "Pico W" and the cost for a SIM76xx is USD40-50 and then you need a mobile subscription.
