but he told me it works with pi too
well u could connect the lcd to the pi or the arduino but it would take up way too many pins
instead of that just get an i2c module
all that'll take up is 2 pins (excluding the voltage and ground pins)
well i cant cuz this is just a smol project that im gonna be disassembling
well u'll need to get it in the future anyway if u want to actually use the lcd later on as well
and its quite cheap so i suggest getting it

i wanted to do the project rn and then dissasemble it

if u have an arduino and a pi a one very complicated solution would be to use the arduino to solely control the lcd and the pi could communicate with the arduino and tell it what to display on the lcd
but that would be VERY annoying

u can use that to reduce the amount of pins u use on the pi
Why use 74HC595?
You have 26 GPIO pins available.
- Keyboard uses 8 GPIO pins
- LCD uses 6 GPIO pins
So why make a project more complicated than it has to be?
So I suggest that you follow K9T33Ns advice, get one device working and get to know how to use it, then get the other part working and learn how t use it and then start combining those two.
