Vim via SSH not making letters bold

The theme I am using currently does not give bold letters where I want them. Neither italics or other types. If I use :set guifont=bold while in vim, nothing changes. Why are bold letters not shown?

You can do that with gvim. But I have no idea how this works with SSH...
