RTL-SDR and the raspberry pi 5

currently, i am using the rpi 64 bit (debian bookworm) for the raspberry pi 5. i can get connected to the internet, terminal, general computer stuff. i start trying to install any sdr software period and it gives me all sorts of issues from telling me to install cython etc. im just gonna start completely fresh from the image (format and wipe), can anyone make suggestions on how i actually set up the software on the rpi 5? i suck at coding, i appreciate any help!

I have used RTL-SDR a couple years ago but not recently. So I will give some general advice. 1. Bookworm uses Wayland as the graphical engine and many SDR apps is X11 (The former graphical engine). There is a option in raspi-config to switch to X.11 that could be an option for you. 2. If you use a search engine and search for "install sdr raspberry pi 5" you will surely find a tutorial to follow and perhaps it is a Wayland compatible tutorial.

I have setup that some time ago, but will redo in a few days anyways. I will do a full OpenWebRX setup, I'm a radio amateur (DL7HH) and will put that to the web. The drivers should work anyway, if you have wayland or something, just forget about all those GUI programs, that might or not might need X11. Just go for the web install. You want to access the SDR over web anyways, I guess. The desktop programs you only need, if you use your RPi as a desktop computer.

this has absolutely stumped me and made me feel a fool. i honestly think im just gonna push off the pie for now, im full. cannot get it running on rpi 5 in any capacity on my end
