solid red light was green

hey! yeah i just got my raspberry pi, first I loaded it and got no HMDI output with a green flashing light then i realised i needed an operating system so i installed it and it didnt boot there was just a white _ at the top left corner so I powered it off then I reinstalled the operating system and i saw the welcome screen for a second then my screen went black, and not my rp5 just has a solid red light. The fans no longer spin either Do i just return it or is it fixable?

What OS did you install? Solid Red LED = Power is on. Blinking Green LED = Activity. Blank screen = What monitor/Display? Fan not spinning = No need for cooling!
