Need to know how I can get all the components

im saying that the pi 5 is quite expensive and powerful compared to other SBCs, for a project like this im pretty sure u could use a pi 4
even a pi zero 2w probably
A Pi Zero can easy do all task that a "Home security" needs

but if u want to learn to actually build ur own projects, i think that projects such as these are quite bad, they tell u what to get and tell u to run the code they give you. u'd learn way more and feel more accomplishment if u come up with an idea and make it urself

a simple project that i make using what they tell me to do

on the long term side of things
i plan to make my own projects
but this is how i want to start
see how i use the OS, how i can use all these components on the pi
just to get a basic understanding of everything

like wires yea theyre important, but u can get them elsewhere too if u dont have enough

u can take a look at them and all the components they include and consider how useful they'd be for u in future projects
just because a kit has a thousand leds and resistors doesnt mean it'll be useful for you

personally i got a similar kit
although it came with an arduino

i didnt most of it
yeah i watched a bunch of videos on arduino and raspberry pi i feel like ill go with the pi
the most important parts were the buttons and the wires
i dont rlly wanna build robots at this stage
to me at least
just mostly software based systems
u can build robots with pis
servers etc

arduinos are way more underpowered than pis but theyre nicer for beginners

the biggest advantage of pis are that in the end u can just use them as computers
but the fact that i can use the pi as its own computer
have an OS running on it

well, my point is kits are nice but they tend to include things u dont need and dont include things u may want
to build another project
sort of like a lego set
you use pieces to build a thing
and u end up breaking it to build something else

but theyre always a nice place to start as theyve got most of the basic stuff u may need to start learning
u can just buy the extra components u need in the future seperately as they tend to be cheaper that way

also i dont think its a good idea to keep finished projects on a breadboard
whether u like soldering or not its a good idea to get a nice perfboard and wire it on all there

takes up lots of space, its not nice to look at, and it gets messy very quickl
